Strategic Planning

Strategic Plan Report for The Fiscal Freeze

Project | 04
Executive Summary

Strategic Planning is vital to successfully integrating technology into a learning and development environment. During the Strategic Planning course, students selected a business, school or non-profit to work with on developing a technology plan. The course used a step-by-step approach to identify the organization’s vision, determine key stakeholders, analyze needs, evaluate current technology offerings, develop an action plan and evaluation process. I worked with a small online social media based financial business called Fiscal Freeze. The business owner and key stakeholders were active participants throughout each phase of the process. I conducted several in-person and online meetings with stakeholders to determine what would be best for the business and customers and fit within the specified financial parameters. The artifacts provided highlight my work with a multicultural, woman owned business and underscore the ethical standards I upheld while working to protect the company’s intellectual property and consumer information. The recommendations I suggested in the project were designed with diverse communities in mind as a representation of the Fiscal Freeze brand. These artifacts reveal the final plan that was submitted to the team along with a more detailed report of the overall planning process.

Personal Reflection

I enjoyed working with this small business owner and her passion really came through. One of the most eye-opening parts of this project was the needs analysis and seeing the business from both the stakeholder and customer perspectives. Although, this business is not a traditional learning institution, it helped me understand the importance of gathering data before making significant decisions about technology offerings. It also, helped me understand how to prioritize which technology elements provide maximum benefit when working within financial or time constraints. I continue to use elements of the strategic planning process to design instruction. For example, I have been gathering data and developing surveys to determine what types of learning and development initiatives are most needed and sot after by employees.
